Alban Berg (1885-1935)

This coming Wednesday (20th February) the RIAM will mark the centenary of Alban Berg’s Three Orchestral Pieces with a Berg Day from 10.30am  – Admission to all events is free.

This will feature the premiere of a two-piano version of the work, by RIAM Composition Professor Kevin O’Connell. Kevin has written about the process of realising this work for two pianos on his blog, which can be viewed at

There will also be a lecture by the leading Berg scholar Douglas Jarman. You may wish to take a look at his monograph on the music of Berg, held in the RIAM library.
