The Society for Musicology in Ireland’s Annual Conference will take place in St Patrick’s College, Dublin City University, on the 10th–12th June 2016.

The RIAM will be well represented at this year’s SMI Conference.

RIAM Senior Examiners, Jennifer O’Connor-Madsen and Majella Boland, will both be giving papers: Jenny on ‘Contextualising Gender in Irish Music Education’ and Majella on ‘Categorising Commercialism, Gender and Nationalism in 19th-Century Piano Music’.  RIAM DMusPerf candidate, Sylvia O’Brien, will be presenting on ‘Seoirse Bodley and his approach to text from a singer’s perspective’ and RIAM graduate, Gavan Ring, will be speaking about Robert O’Dwyer’s opera, Eithne, which was the topic of his doctorate research. Gavan’s DMusPerf dissertation is freely available online in the RIAM’S TARA collections.

The full SMI conference programme is now available to view online.
