The 15th Plenary Conference of The Society for Musicology in Ireland will take place on the 16th-18th June in Queen’s University Belfast.

The conference includes papers drawn from all areas of musicology and related music studies. Professor John Butt (Gardiner Professor of Music, University of Glasgow) will deliver the keynote lecture. The conference will also include a plenary lecture, ‘The European Response to Thomas Moore’s Lalla Rookh’, followed by a concert to mark the 200th anniversary of Moore’s work.

The RIAM will be well represented at the conference with 3 speakers. Senior Examiner, Majella Boland will talk about ‘Reappraising the RIAM Syllabus: A Musicological Perspective’. DMusPerf student, Marie-Charline Foccroulle will present a paper entitled ‘Final Thoughts? Interpretation of the First Movements of Beethoven’s and Schubert’s Last Three Piano Sonatas’, and Denise Neary will give a paper on ‘“Performing Research, Researching Performance”: An Irish Perspective’.
